
Indian Association of Physiotherapist (IAP) Nagaland state branch, in collaboration with Dimapur district IAP Women Cell, organised a seminar for the general public on March 23, at Nikos Hospital and Research Centre, Dimapur on the topic “Osteoporosis.”
A press release from IAP Nagaland state branch stated that Osteoporosis is a serious public health issue. (Osteoporosis is a disease where increased bone weakness increases the risk of a broken bone. It is the most common reason for a broken bone among the elderly).
Resource person for the seminar, MPT (musculoskeletal), state joint secretary, IAP Nagaland state branch, Dr. Inato Achumi started with a brief introduction on the anatomy of the bone.
He emphasized on bone physiology, the osteoporotic process and diagnostic procedures. The resource person further laid emphasis on how physiotherapy is a proactive way to help prevent this problem and an effective treatment that helps restore movement, function and bone strength.
