KMC to assist colonies with water supply: With the lockdown entering the second week in the state and restriction on movement of vehicular as well as human traffic, citizens of Kohima, like everywhere else in the country are beginning to encounter certain hardships due to this enforced regulation. According to DIPR report, while the government is ensuring availability of essential commodities to all possible extent, the fact that the capital reels under water shortage even in normal times is now increasingly becoming a cause for greater concern. Towards trying to mitigate this problem and till such period the lockdown continues, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) shall, from April 7 extend assistance to all the colonies (recognized and unrecognized) within its jurisdiction and: Distribute syntex water tanks of 2000 ltrs capacity to each of the colonies; Supply 2000 ltrs of water free of cost to these colonies (as far as possible on a daily basis, if not on alternate days). The target group shall be the daily wage earners and the poorest of the poor. All wards to: Identify the water receiving points as per the number of such locations listed against their respective wards by the KMC office; Identify genuine beneficiaries; Appoint volunteers to supervise and monitor the distribution of water in a systematic manner so that chaotic scenes are avoided and strict social distancing is maintained at all cost. Dimapur Police issues traffic advisory: Additional deputy commissioner has informed all colony/village permit vehicles that wholesale market at GS road Dimapur will open from 3 a.m to 8 a.m. A press release from Police/PRO stated that, entry points for vehicular movement are Army Supply Junction and Dhobinallah Point and exit point from MP Road and railway siding towards Tragopan Point. Further, PRO stated that movement would be strictly enforced, therefore, all have been requested to extend co-operation.
DC Kohima notifies: DC Kohima has issued the following directives for strict compliance of all concerned: Grocery shops; bakeries/vegetable vendors/pharmacies/shops selling essential commodities are permitted to open only on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays during the lockdown period; Only one member of each family shall be permitted to come out of their homes for procurement of essential commodities from the market; Only pharmacies are permitted to remain open on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays; Movement of all vehicles shall be totally restricted except those vehicles which have the explicit permission of this office; However, officials/staff/persons belonging to Medical/Police/district administration/paramilitary/media/vehicles carrying essential commodities with prior permission/emergency medical cases and are exempted from the purview of this order.
DC Mon directs shopkeepers: Deputy commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K has directed all shopkeepers within Mon district to issue cash memo to the customers for every purchase. Further, people are advised to ensure receipt of the cash memo. In case of any complaint in regard to price hike, selling above MRP etc it will be mandatory to produce the cash memo as evidence. All are requested to report price hike issues on the following number 8414951445. DC also issued the following regulations for purchase of essential commodities in Mon town with effect from April 6 till further orders. The maximum permissible quantity per day are: Rice 10 kg per family; Dal 1 kg per family; Potato 3 kg per family; Tomato 2 kg per family; Chilli 1 kg per family; Onion 2 kg per family; Oil 1 litre per family; Milk powder 1 kg per family; Sugar 1 kg per family; Tea leaves 1 kg per family. All the shopkeepers are ordered to strictly comply with the above mentioned regulations. Any person/group acting in violation of this order shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the Indian penal Code.
