Training on COVID-19 for doctors under public and private health institutions was held at CMO’s conference hall Dimapur on March 16.
A press release from DPMU Dimapur stated that, Dr. Imtiwabong, district surveillance officer as resource person highlighted the global and national epidomology of COVID-19. Training covered various topics to contain and control the spread of COVID-19 such as risk assessment, cluster containment strategy and community surveillance, risk communications & community engagement etc.
The preparedness level of the district was also comprehensively reviewed by doctors of both the govt. and private health institutions, wherein district authority lamented the shortage of ambulances and ventilators with the district health authority. For the safety of all patients, the private hospitals were also requested to identify an isolation room in their respective health institutions so as to manage a suspected case before referring to the District Hospital. Training materials were distributed so that the trainees can further train other health workers in their respective institutions.
A Whatsapp group of medical officers of both private and public sectors in the district was also formed for efficient co-ordination and updates related to COVID-19. Similar training on COVID-19 preparedness will also be held on March 17 for health workers viz BPMs, CHOs, BACs and those medical officers who missed today’s training.
Pughoboto: Pughoboto sub-division planning and development board meeting was held under SDPDB, Pughoboto chairman and Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA at ADC Pughoboto office on March 16. According to DIPR report, MLA directed all medical officers of Pughoboto to be in their respective posting place to take preparedness and preventive measure on COVID 19. He also advised the doctors to inform the symptoms to the villagers so as to maintain hygiene with the use of hand sanitizers. He further informed all the officers to keep hand sanitizers in their offices.
KSC organises programme on COVID-19: Kohima Science College (KSC) Jotsoma organised a sensitization programme on COVID-19 for the faculty, staff and students community on March 14 at the college auditorium with Dr. Hoito Chisi as the resource person.
NEISSR: North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) has declared “Covid-19 Safety Mission” in the institute on March 16 till the situation return to normalcy. Speaking on the occasion Fr. Dr. C. P. Anto, principal of NEISSR exhorted the MSW students on the protection and preventive mission as social work students and trainees. He also addressed the students and staff to be prepared to act when needed as professional social workers. An orientation and training on personal safety practices and measures of protecting oneself from contacting Coronavirus, based on instructions issued by Govt health authorities, was organized by the principal and faculty members.
KMC takes preventive measures

KOHIMA, MAR 16 (NPN): Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) administrator and CEO Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) Kovi Meyase assured that the municipal under KMC was taking up the government advisory on war footing with full preparation as preventive measure in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19.
Speaking to Nagaland post on Monday, Meyase informed that principal secretary of Urban Development department, I. Himato Zhimomi has issued strict advisory to all urban local bodies (ULBs) in the wake of outbreak of COVID-19 to ensure maintenance of outmost cleanliness and hygiene in all school/public/department transport system, public toilets, amenities, restaurants /hotels/eateries etc.
Meyase said according to advisory notice no wild and live animals are allowed to be sold in the market, while fish, poultry and meat are to be sold only at designated shops/locations duly authorised by the respective ULBs. He added that random butchers and meat shops are to be strictly prohibited, discourage rearing of pigs and poultry in close proximity to human in urban areas and to ensure that all the wards maintain proper sanitation within their jurisdictions and prohibit random disposal of garbage etc.
He said hoarding or selling items such as hand sanitation/hand wash/mask at exorbitant prices were prohibited. He said sanitary workers/sweepers in each ULB area to be properly sensitized and protective gears and safety measures to be observed compulsorily. Fogging and sanitizing vulnerable areas may also be conducted in co-ordination with the Health and Family Welfare department, he added.
He informed that KMC has prepared pamphlets in regard to precaution measures for Coronavirus (COVID-19) written both in English and Nagamese along with medical department helpline to be pasted in the public places. He said the municipal sanitary workers were the most vulnerable group at this point of time and would be provided the protective gears, although there was shortage of required materials across the nation. He informed that awareness on COVID-19 is taking place at smart city kiosk in two locations at Police head quarter junction and opposite Oking Hospital Kohima.
On query, Meyase expressed his serious concern for the government and public to take precautionary measure to prevent COVID-19, stating that there was no test kit available in the state which has a porous border and tourists flowing into the state.
A public leader also said that as preventive measure the state government should close the educational institutions like the neighbouring states as it would be too late to start acting after a person is detected as positive case.
