Taking serious note of the habit of public spitting, which poses a serious threat to the spread of such infections, the state government, in the interest of the public health and safety, has banned spitting of paan/tamul, sputum etc in public places and institutions with immediate effect.
In a notification, the principal secretary I Himato Zhimomi cautioned that violators would be punished in accordance to relevant laws.
