The body of a Naga youth who was reportedly shot dead by Assam police on April 5 near Lalmati area, Khatkhati Assam was handed over to the family.
According to reports, Bokajan SDPO John Das had said that one person was killed during an exchange of gunfire.
When contacted, Sub-urban police station OC Picto Achumi said he had received a telephonic information stating that one person was shot dead in Khatkati area.
Basing on the information, he said Dimapur police contacted OC of Khatkati and learnt that an unidentified body was kept at Diphu medical college for further investigation.
After ascertaining the identity of the person, the family was contacted and the body was handed over to them, the OC said. No further details could be ascertained till the filing of this report.
