Borlengri residents have urged the State government to relax sealing of the Borlengri bridge.
In a representation to home commissioner through DC Dimapur, nine village GBs and chairman and eight leaders appealed for exempting people living in Borlengri from the purview of the sealing, besides reviewing the sealing immediately.
Pointing out that sealing of the bridge by Dimapur district administration on May 11 had blocked the only lifeline of the people of Borlengri, the representation asserted that though geographically the area was under Karbi Anglong, Assam, 90% of its people were Nagas and they exercised all their rights in Nagaland, adding it was a twin town of Dimapur.
The GBs and chairman claimed there were thousands of people from the area serving in the Nagaland government in different districts and thousands of students studying at different schools at Dimapur town and elsewhere.
Cautioning that sealing of border could adversely affect daily movement of people living in the area, they said it also could not be made practically applicable. This was stated in a press note issued by Borlengri-I village committee sessional chairman, R. Meren Walling and sessional secretary Mhao Odyuo
