Petrol price hiked for 3rd day

State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) increased the petrol prices across all metros for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, whereas diesel prices were left unchanged.

In the national capital, petrol prices rose by 17 paisa to Rs.80.90 a litre. OMCs had on August 16 hiked petrol prices after a pause of 47 days. According to Indian Oil website, the petrol price in Dimapur was Rs.86.23 per litre while in the state capital a litre of petrol was retailing at Rs.87.12.

Diesel prices in Dimapur and Kohima remained at Rs.79.42 per litre and Rs.80.13 respectively.

The latest price hike comes at a time when crude oil prices have been rising and the Brent crude is trading around $45 per barrel.
