Peren Police secured the release of two persons with active support of stakeholders on March 15.
According to a statement by SP Peren, one of the three abducted was earlier released on March 9. The three were abducted on March 2 and a case was registered with Jalukie Police Station. The two who were released were identified as– Wongkiyan, son of Angoubo and Peicsisap, son of Hojirong. Both are from Jalukie and later handed over to their respective families after a medical checkups and observing required legal formalities, SP said. SP further informed that an enquiry into the matter will continue under the supervision of IGP Range PHQ.
KVC: In a separate statement, Kiyevi Village Council said it was disturbed by the accusation and counter accusation between GPRN/NSCN and Zeliangrong community with regard to the detention of two persons by GPRN/NSCN.
Hd.GB of Kiyevi, Y. Botovi Zhimomi asserted that no group or community should politicise the incident of robbery and theft with tribal intent and inclination. “It is true that around 15 teak wood trees have been cut and taken away by unknown persons from the said teak plantation,” he said while informing all concerned that the said plantation was over 30 years old and within the village jurisdiction. Botovi said a clarification was necessitated so that peace and harmony prevailed among Nagas. He said “the incident took place under Kiyevi village, established during the British rule in December 27, 1939.”
