In view of the surge COVID-19 positive cases in the state, the government of Nagaland and its agencies have been issuing advisories and information to mitigate the spread of the virus. The state Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) has also commenced vaccination for the age group of 18- 44 years. In view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the district, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur has informed that the district health authority has listed the 24×7 COVID19 Helpline numbers of all COVID-19 Hospitals (see chart), both government and private health facilities in the district.

Peren: Office of the CMO Peren has informed that a medical team led by Dr. Imnuk (epidemiologist) IDSP Peren has been carrying out random sampling tests in order to ascertain the prevalence of COVID-19 in the district.
A press release by CMO office informed that random samples were collected on April 19, April 23, April 30, May 5, May 13-14 in Jalukie Town and April 24 and May 3 in Peren town.
The cumulative result of the sample collected were from the category of taxi drivers, auto drivers, shopkeepers, daily market dwellers, petrol pump staff, BSNL staff and garage workers, informed the release. The release informed that out of 173 samples collected, four were positive and the rest 169 were negative.
CMO office has also informed that first phase of COVID vaccination drive for 18- 44 years begun on May 17 and till May 18, 410 beneficiaries has been vaccinated. CMO office informed that the vaccination for this age group was done only at block heads i.e., at District Hospital Peren, CHC Jalukie, Tening CHC and PHC Athibung.
The office informed that for vaccination of 45 years and above it was available in all the health units till the sub centre level in the district.
OCHRC COVID care block: Olive Christian Hospital & research Centre (OCHRC) has informed that it has activated a dedicated COVID-19 care block in Darogapathar from May 20, 4 p.m. onwards.
In a press release, OCHRC managing director, Dr Ikheto Y Sema has informed that a dedicated facility with 40 isolation beds has been created to ensure accessibility of quality treatment for COVID-19 patients. Sema asserted that the hospital main block would continue to cater to the health needs of the non-COVID patients.
Noklak: Noklak DTF on COVID-19 held a meeting under the chairmanship of DC Noklak, Reny Wilfred at DC’s conference hall.
According to DIPR report, the DC informed that Truenat machine was installed at COVID-19 hospital and testing had begun and registration of ID was under process.
With regard to essential commodities, he informed that there was enough stock of essential commodities for a month and encouraged the members to motivate and create awareness among the people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
In the meeting, SP Noklak, Pritpal Kaur requested the front line workers (FLWs) to take proper precautions while taking care of COVID-19 patients. The SP urged shopkeepers not to hoard essential commodities and to continue random sampling testing in the district.
Meanwhile, Noklak SDO (C) & administrator said that so far there was no COVID-19 positive case in the district and requested all to continue maintaining the same. He requested shopkeepers to get COVID-19 vaccination as they were more vulnerable.
KBCA executive secretary, Hempao Lam informed the house that the churches were ready to extend help in all possible ways in fighting the pandemic.
Tuensang: Tuensang DTF for COVID-19 held the meeting at the DC’s conference hall on.The meeting was chaired by DC and chairman DTF Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing lockdown updates in the district from the enforcing agencies and decided to stick with the ongoing guidelines. The medical department updated oxygen status in the district along with beds ready for COVID 19 hospital.
During the meeting, the house discussed on the functioning of BSL-II lab and the DTF decided to keep the BS -II lab functioning despite constraints. The DTF also agreed to financially assist with other consumable and emergencies to keep the lab running until fund was received from the government.
The house decided to establish COVID-19 care center at government polytechnic Sedam for COVID-19 asymptomatic patients who do not have facility for home isolation. It may be mentioned that the random sample collection team of Tuensang was on full swing in all the blocks. In this regard, the house decided to take up at the village level in the next phase while focusing on villages on the highways.
Peren: Tening sub-divisional task force (SDTF) on COVID-19 meeting was held under the chairmanship of ADC and chairman, Sub-Divisional Task Force, Tening, Rosietho Nguori. The meeting was attended by church leaders, GBs and chairmen of both Tening town and Tening village. The house discussed and resolved on: suspension of services in churches/temples of all denomination/faith under Tening sub-division throughout the lockdown period. In the event of non-extension of lockdown by the government, the house resolved to extend lockdown for Tening sub-division till May 31; in order to effectively manage COVID-19 pandemic in their respective villages/ wards, the Village Task Force (VTF) and Ward Task Force (WTF) would be activated and formed (if not formed).
Time for opening of shops selling essential commodities would be strictly enforced from 6 a.m.-12 noon; Tening police would be setting up temporary check gate at zero point to regulate unauthorized movement of people/ traffic. The house also decided to issue travel permit by ADC office, Tening only for travel related to essential commodities/services. It also informed that persons/ villagers travelling to Tening town for essential commodities/services should obtain written permit from the respective village council authority.
Longleng: In view of the detection of COVID-19 positive case among the employees of SBI, Longleng, DC & DTF chairman Longleng, Shayung Phom has ordered total shutdown of SBI, Longleng till May 31. The order was necessitated to contain the spread of the disease and for necessary contact tracing and disinfection of the office.
The DC has therefore informed the general public that banking activities would remain suspended until expiry of the stipulated period/till further notice from the responsible authority.
CNC: In appreciation and response to the timely call for a state-wide prayer on May 22 by Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF), Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC) has notified all brigades, battalions, units, and region churches under CNC to comply with the call of NJCF.
In a press release, CNC has also appealed to all the denominational churches, prayer groups, prayer warriors and responsible Christians in Nagalim and Nagas living abroad to do the same – by way of holding “prayer walk” in their localities and “family prayer time” on the said day and time. CNC has also appealed to prepare and conduct “chain of prayer” in the month of June.
