
Nagaland governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deputy chief minister Y. Patton have extended warm greetings to the members of the Sumi community on the occasion of Ahuna festival.
In his message, Prof.Mukhi said Ahuna, which is celebrated in purity of body and mind, and in gratitude for a bountiful harvest, should make the younger generation more aware of the Sumi’s ancient rich history, philosophy of life and culture, and foster friendship and unity among the community.
Mukhi expressed belief that the festive spirit of oneness and bonding would restore “our faith and lead us towards peace and progress.” Mukhi wished happiness and good health to all as they safely and responsibly celebrate Ahuna.
CM: Taking to twitter, state chief minister Rio prayed that the post-harvest festival bring peace, foster harmony and unity. “I wish you all good fortune for the coming year.
Best wishes for a happy and safe Ahuna,” Rio tweeted.
Dy.CM: State deputy chief minister Y Patton, in a message, said that the two-day celebrations marked a special post-harvest thanksgiving and invoking blessings for the coming year.
Patton, who is also BLP leader, on behalf of the state BJP legislators, wished the Sumis a very happy Ahuna and prayed that it would bring prosperity and happiness to the people.
