Opposing the proposal to change the nomenclature of GBs, Chakhroma GB Association (CGBA) has said that appointment of GBs and its role and responsibilities had been practiced for the last 181 years in Naga villages much before introduction of Town Council/Municipal Acts.
In a press note, CGBA president Rokovitso Kuotsu and general secretary Thepfukuo Nagi said that removing the nomenclature of GBs “does not hold water”, adding that the name GBs was not incorporated in Town or Municipal Acts, which had been in implementation barely for few years.
