Longtong village celebrates 118th foundation day

Longtong (Atuphu) Sema Naga village celebrated its 118th (1904-2022) foundation day on January 25 at Margherita sub-Division, Assam.
A press release by chairman, Longtong Village Council, ShitoiSema and GB Longtong Village Kaseto Sema stated minister of education, welfare plain tribes and backward classes government of Assam Dr.Ranuj Pegu, Agriculture Production Commissioner government of Nagaland, Y. Kikheto Sema, MLA-cum advisor tourism, IPR and printing Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Laisam Simai and retired director health and family welfare, Dr.Hotokhu Chishi were chief guest, special guest and guests of honour respectively.
On the occasion, Dr Ranuj Pegu congratulated the people of Longtong Sema Naga village for completing 118 years of its existence. He also narrated his personal affinity with the Naga people.
Stating that Assam government has specific law which protects the land and rights of the minority people in the state, Dr. Ranuj encouraged the Sema Naga villages in the area to be optimistic to any apprehension that prevails for they are in safe hands.
Special guest, Kikheto Sema spoke in length about the Nagas and the Sümis as fierce warriors. He urged the Longtong village in particular, and the remaining five villages in general, to retrospect back to 118 years where their forefathers had the resilience to set up.
Kikheto urged the villagers to be thankful to the pioneers who established these villages even before India became a country and Assam was a State.
Guest of honour, Laisam Simai, stated that the Tangsa people had blood relation with the Nagas and they would gladly yield to their aid if need arises.
Also speaking at the event, Dr.Hotokhu Chishi read out the three points memorandum and submitted to Dr.Ranuj Pegu.
Earlier, Western Sümi Baptist AkukuhouKüqhakulu (WSBAK) Rev. Pughoto Aye dedicated the foundation stone which was unveiled by the chief guest.
The celebration was attended by members from WSBAK, Sumi Hoho, WSKH, WSYF, student leaders and hosts of other Sumi leaders from different fields.
