Joint Co-ordination Committee of Villages (JCCV) on Sunday decided to suspend the proposed sit-in demonstration, scheduled to be held on April 11 and 12.
Informing this in a press note, JCCV convener L.K. Swu and co-convener Tsithrongse Sangtam said that the decision was made during an emergency meeting held on Sunday, based on the verbal request of the chief secretary.
JCCV said that the chief secretary during the meeting held on April 7 had sought more time for the three-member committee headed by Home commissioner to study the matter for peaceful resolution of the impasse.
As a responsible organization, JCCV said it would refrain from holding any kind of agitation for time being, in the larger interest of people and the government. It, however, said that further course of action would be decided in due course of time in case the matter was not taken up by the government for peaceful resolution.
Meanwhile, JCCV said it would continue to carry out all official dealings with deputy commissioner Dimapur even though the state government has placed Dhansiripar Sub-division under the jurisdiction of Chümoukedima district.
