Special assistant to chief minister passes away; Rio mourns

Kuovisieo Rio, special assistant to the chief minister of Nagaland, passed away at a private hospital in Kohima on May 20, 2020.
According to family sources, his body has been kept at his private residence at Lower Bayavü Hills and send-off would take place on May 21, 2022 at around 8 am. Funeral service would be held at his native village Tuophema at 1 pm, where he will be laid to rest. He is survived by wife and two sons and two daughters.
State chief minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed grief over the demise of Kuovisieo Rio.
In a condolence message to Mrs. Neibounuo Rio, the chief minister said he had been associated with late Kuovisieo for a very long time and shared a close working relationship. Rio said Kuovisieo’s demise was a personal loss to him and his family, adding “we are at a loss to express our sorrow.”
The chief minister described late Kuovisieo as a hardworking and a sincere person, who always made sure that every responsibility assigned to him was completed efficiently.
The chief minister also placed on record the appreciation of the state government for the contributions he made to the chief minister’s office in the service of the state.
Rio said Kuovisieo was also the general secretary of NDPP and the contributions and sacrifices he rendered for the party would always remain etched in the records of the party for all times to come.
As VDB secretary of Touphema village, Rio said he contributed immensely in the service of the people, especially the needy and the weaker sections of society.
The chief minister extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God grant them strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, Abu Metha, adviser to CM, and the officers and staff of chief minister’s office have also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
