As a curtain raiser to Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur 50th Anniversary Grand Finale, an Inter-School Cultural Dance Competition was organised on 16th September, at the School Ground where 12 schools showcased the “Colours of India” through different indigenous folk – Bhangra, Nepali, Bihu, Zeliang, Ao and Phom dances.
Chandu Agarwal, Chairman of the Red Cross Society, Dimapur graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, he highlighted, “Dance as the hidden language of the soul, a way to find and lose oneself at the same time”. He added that dance teaches us to be a better person, a better version of oneself. He encouraged the participants by making them know that not all dancers are great because of their techniques but because of their passion. A welcome address was delivered by Jose V.A, Supervisor of CHSS and vote of thanks by Patricia Zhimomi, Vice-Principal. The hosts were Keneichütuoü Yeptho and Inovi Awomi.
The judges for the Cultural Dance Competition were Dr. H.Y. Chishi (Director, Indigenuous Cultural Society), Oliver (Programme Officer, NEZCC) and Tiakumzuk Aier (Director, Dreamz Unlimited). Pilgrim Higher Secondary School with their Bhangra performance took the top prize of Rs. 8000 and Dimapur Mission Higher Secondary School, the second prize of Rs. 5000. The Best Costume went to Holy Cross Higher Secondary School and won a cash prize of Rs. 3000.
