Tikhir Students Union (TSU) has expressed concern over absence of teachers in schools and non posting of administrative heads at Shamator ADC Hqs since the “latest reshuffling”.
A press note by TSU president S. Longkamse, general secretary Temong Y Tikhir and advisor M. Jongyanthong, has informed all the school teachers to be in their respective station and perform their duties immediately.
It also claimed that no administrative heads have been posted at in Shamator ADC Hqs since the latest reshuffling of officers and has appealed the responsible authority to depute the officers immediately to redress the grievances of the public in general.
TSU said the union during its educational tour, which culminated on August 8, had found out that schools were being run with the proper strength of teachers. It said GHS Anatongre was without headmaster or assistant headmaster, which resulted in the poor results in the HSLC and claimed that all the schools under Tikhir villages faced the same problems with shortage of science and math teachers. TSU said GMS Wapher village with 175 students (class A-7) does not have a single graduate teacher.
Some of the teachers were also found to be absent right from the day of their appointment, TSU claimed. In view of this, and for the welfare of the students, TSU has asked the defaulters to report to the respective VECs/HTs immediately to avoid further inconveniences.
