Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), SMMU Kohima, chief operating officer Rollan Lotha inaugurated the Community Management Training Centre (CMTC), in Diphupar village, here, on Monday.
Sharing the journey of NSRLM and vision 2030, Rollan informed that the ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) restructured SGSY and formally launched DAY-NRLM on June 3, 2011, which was one of the flagship programmes of MoRD and one of the world’s largest initiative to improve livelihood of the poor.
He spoke on the approach encompassing four inter-related tasks mobilising poor households into functionally effective Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and their federations, enhancing access to bank credit and financial, technical and marketing services, building capacities, etc. Rollan also highlighted aims of the mission which he said, was to foster social and economic empowerment of the rural poor through sustainable women SHGs and their federations and empower local change-makers.
Speech of RD joint secretary and director SRLM, Imtimenla was read out where it was disclosed that around 1.13 lakhs rural households across the state have been brought together into 13,000 SHGs to work together to address multi-dimensional issues of poverty.
In Chümoukedima alone, we have a rich network of 587 women SHGs covering 5,614 households, wherein these SHGs have federated into 36 VL0 and 4 CLF, the report stated.
Among these 32 blocks, MCLFs of resource blocks have been selected to develop into resource institutions and demonstration & immersion sites for other CLFs in the districts to emulate.
In order to achieve this goal, the mission has also initiated establishing at least one CMTC per district to be managed by Model CLFs of resource blocks.
Among the four CLFS under Chümoukedima, UCLF has been selected to be the Model CLF immersion site along with establishment of the CMTC.
CMTC will be a centre of learning owned, managed and run by the women of CLFs.
In his speech, guest of honour, project director, DRDA DMMU Dimapur, Kethosituo Sekhose encouraged SHGs to learn to adapt to changes and utilise the opportunities of the developing system for local business growth.
He also suggested them to identify products that could be cost effectively produced and to identify the market sector by focusing on invocation, ideas and attraction.
At the programme, a brief history of UCLS was delivered by UCLF president Ikali Chishi, wherein, it was informed that UCLF under Chümoukedima was formed on October 2, 2017 comprising of 12 VLOs, covering a total of 16 villages.
There 241 serve group within the 16 villages with an active membership of 1817 members.
