1 gets 12 years jail for rape of minor girl

Special Court POCSO Phek has sentenced a man to undergo 20 years rigorous imprisonment in jail for raping a 12-year-old girl in 2017. In a press release, public prosecutor Phek, Samuel Ritse, informed that the accused identified as Vebuto Khesoh was sentenced under section 376A(2)(0 IPC read with section 4 POCSO Act, 2012.
The Judge Special Court POCSO Phek, Neiko Akami, pronounced the judgment and passed the conviction order on June 7, 2023 upon hearing the accused on quantum of sentence. The Court found that accused on January 5, 2017 committed penetrative sexual assault to a minor girl, wherein the accused after luring the minor victim, took her to jungle, which was one km away from her residence, and committed penetrative assault upon the victim. The prosecution was able to prove guilt of the accused person beyond all reasonable doubt. The case was investigated by UBI Lucy Doungel.
