Imkong warns non-performing staff

Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Imkong L. Imchen, has cautioned that he would not hesitate to take necessary legal action for non-performing and irregular staff and also warned of red-tapism.
Imkong said that there should not be a compromise with the rules and regulations of the department duty and assignments. He asked the officers to work hard to produce positive result.
The minister was addressing the officers of State forest department from all districts during a departmental meeting convened by principal chief conservator of forest and head of forest force, Kohima Nagaland, at its head office Kohima on Thursday.
Reminding the government servants that they were salaried for their jobs, Imkong asked them to do justice and improve their performance for the development of the society.
The minister also asked the department officers not to avoid being posted in interior or remotes areas, reminding them that their service was also required in those areas.
Imkong also stressed on the need for quality service and efficiency and also a roadmap for posterity, ecosystem and green environment. 
In his address, principal secretary forests L. Kire, said the department has great role to play for mitigation of global warming issue, livelihood, food security and society development.
He urged the department staff to introspect with their work and work hard with sincerity. Kire also advised the department officers not to keep their work pending.
The principal secretary also said that with seasoned politician taking over the department, the department was hopeful that it would attain greater heights.
In the meeting, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project was presented wherein it was informed that 185 villages would be identified for the project in all the district of the state. 
The JICA project has five models of plantations to reduce jhum cultivation.   JICA in Nagaland is Rs. 534 crores project and Rs. 144 crore state share. The departmental meeting was attended by DFO, forest rangers, HoFF and others officers from all the district of the state.
