As part of its “children, youth and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) campaign 2023”, Child Friendly Dimapur-ANMA Integrated Development Association (CFD-AIDA) organised a skill training for the children, youth and adults under the theme, “Best out of waste” at AIDA Training Hall, Saturday.
A press release by CFD-AIDA stated that the objective was to raise awareness on clean and safe environment, create empathy and a sense of responsible citizenship towards creating a clean and safe environment for the children and to educate them on the concept of 3Rs i.e., “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” to the community. The trainers were senior nurse educator, HOD Outreach Service Department, CIHSR, Rokotsino Meyase and Health Care Giver cum Income Generation Skill trainer, CISHR, Rokosetuo Chale.
Addressing the participants during the training, executive director, AIDA, Rev. Fr. Roy George shared the objective of the training and encouraged the participants to learn the skills through training, train others as well as continue the chain of activities executing their skills.
He encouraged the participants to make use of the ordinary things into something valuable, reuse materials and make the best use of the waste, which would eventually contribute towards creating a clean and safe environment for the children. During the training, the participants learnt the art of making Chinese paintings by utilizing used cards, preparing pen out of used calendars, preparing paper tea coaster out of newspapers and tissues and T-shirt fabric paint. Altogether, 28 participants from different institutions and communities attended the training. CFD-AIDA said “children, youth and CSOs campaign 2023” was launched on June 17, focusing on Article 24, United Nation Convention for the Rights of the Children i.e., children have the right to good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment so that they will stay healthy. It said the campaign would culminate on September 29, 2023.
