Commemorating the month of “Tuluni festival”, Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) organised a cultural festival on July 22 at SBCK Daklane.
The main objective in organising the event was to inculcate cultural values in the minds of the youths.
The day was observed under the theme “sustaining our cultural values and social identity”
A press release by SBCK media cell informed that during the event, commissioner and secretary Health and Family Welfare, Y. Kikheto Sema, who was the theme speaker, called upon the gathering to trace the social identity and cultural values and preserving it.
He cautioned the youths that though popular cultures like westernization and Korean band-BTS add colors in the modern world, those cultures should not result in “ethnocide of our beautiful culture”. He further appealed to the youth of SBCK to incessantly pursue the objectives set by the church, where the church has committed to be a facilitator of Christian unity, spirit empowerment and sending out missionaries to the unreached.
