As part of its phase-II agitation, United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) on Tuesday began locking the offices of district education officer (DEO), senior sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) and sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) for an indefinite period under its jurisdiction.

USSC launched the phase-II agitation in protest against non-fulfilment of its three-point charter of demands—immediate cancelation of teachers post transferred without relievers and equal distribution of staffs, detach teachers from VIPs, directorates, DEO and SDEO offices and redeployment of shortage of teachers.
At today’s protest, hundreds of students from Kiphire town led by USSC and area representatives marched to DEO and senior SDEO office Kiphire. The students later submitted a letter to the deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire addressed to the principal director school education.

Addressing the gathering at senior SDEO office, USSC vice president Sethrongba Y Sangtam said that the agitation continue until their demands were fulfilled by the department.

USSC vice president stated that students were suffering owing to the random transfer of teacher with post. He also said that the innocent students, who could not raise their voice, were suffering silently, adding that department’s “mischief works” were killing their career.

USSC has urged the department to fulfil its charter of demands in the greater interest of the student community. Similar agitations of locking down SDEO office were also conducted at Seyochung town and Longkhim town under Tuensang district.
