Food Safety Administration, Dimapur Zone under the office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur has directed defaulting food business operators (FBOs) to obtain food safety license/registration certificate online through the website www.foscos.fssai.gov.in or attend its office for query on or before October 31.
FSA Dimapur zone office designated officer, Samuel Zehol, stated that many FBOs were operating food business within Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland without obtaining food safety license/registration certificate, which is a violation under Regulation 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Regulations, 2011.
Sub-section 1 of Section 31 of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 (Central) states that “No Person shall commence or carry on any food business except under a License”.
Failure to comply with the directive, defaulting FBOs would be penalized under Section 58 of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006.
