Sangtam Literature Board (SLB) celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme, ““Dynamic Wisdom” on November 4 at Sangtamtilla Village with advisor, IT and Communication, Economics & Statistics, Evaluation, H. Sethrongkyu Sangtam as the special guest.
A press release by SLB stated that USBLA executive secretary, Rev. Y. Imtiba delivered a message on the jubilee theme. Other dignitaries who participated in the programme were C. Kipili Sangtam, MLA and chairman, DPDB Kiphire, Kashiho Sangtam, ex-minister, M. Sangtam, Ex. MLA, Tsapikyu, president ENPO and K. Aliba, president United Sangtam Likhum Pumji.
They stressed on the importance of literature development and emphasized on the preservation of Sangtam language, which is considered as a gift from God. They also mentioned that language plays an important role for unification of the people in the modern society.
On this occasion, online bi-lingual Sangtam Dictionary developed jointly by the Sangtam Literature Board and Lithsaba T Sangtam under the domain “LIHPIKIHNA” was launched by the Sethrongkyu. A book titled, “Traditional Medicinal Plants” (Sangtam/English) authored by T. Yangliba Sangtam, LO was also released by V. Kashiho Sangtam, ex-minister. Eminent literary contributors were honoured on the occasion – C. Tsalongse LO(Rtd) for his outstanding contribution towards the development of Sangtam Literature, and Rev. Tsipise for gospel publication for the Sangtam Churches.
