Destitute Children’s Kome Kohima celebrated its 5th ‘Foundation Day’ on Sunday at its premises, Kezieke, Kohima. Destitute Children’s Home proprietor Kevilenuo Chadi (Alebu) in a brief address informed that the Destitute Children’s Home was founded on November 26, 2018, and it was registered under the government as a charitable society for destitute children.
Narrating her journey, she mentioned that her late mother’s compassionate nature for the less fortunate ones made her to understand the needs of these unfortunate children and took them under her wing. “This home shelters abandoned children, abused, neglected, orphaned and semi orphans. At present, there are nine destitute children under this home,” she revealed.
She added that these children suffered the most when their parents separated or abandoned them. She said that there are children from unfortunate families who in spite of having both parents are unable to support and raise them because of their unfortunate circumstances or financial background.
“Such is the plight of the children who are presently under the care of the shelter home. This mission is a shared dream of my family to mould and shape the children to stand on their feet”, she added.
Chadi said the first and foremost aim of theirs was education, because that is the only way for their future towards self-sufficiency and added that she has been sending all her children to school.
She also highlighted that people came to know about their home through social media after an article in the daily newspapers and had started visiting their home which includes different churches denominations, organizations, individuals.
She also mentioned special thanks to Monalisa Chankija, KCCI, Easterine Kire, Hekiye Sema and Prem Kumar Punjab from Mumbai. She expressed her deepest gratitude towards the people who had supported and allowed their family to keep trying to transform their lives for a better future. She added that the children have so far improved in terms of studies and spiritual world.
Chadi informed that on “World Sunday School Day”, few of them were also awarded for their attendance in Sunday School classes even in studies some have come in top positions.
The programme was blessed with invocation by CRC Pezelietsie pastor Vepotalü Solo and Letoulie Pienyii pronounced a special prayer. Keziekie Welfare Board vice chairman Tseilievinuo Sale gave greetings and highlighted the love and happiness that grows in the house.
