Chi and Mon Land Owners’ Association (CMLOA), Mon would be holding a protest rally on December 30 at Mon headquarters to protest against non-implementation of the 1964 agreement signed between the land owners and the then district administration by the state government.
According to CMLOA president, O. Kamzei and general secretary, Y. Tingyeih the decision to go for protest rally was unanimously resolved at the meeting held on December 26. The association said that they have been compelled to adopt the “democratic weapon” as a result of government’s failure to respond on the repeated pleas of the land owners.
Besides restriction on vehicular movement, shops and business establishment will remain close during the rally. District administration, police and security forces, medical, power, PHED and emergency services have been exempted, CMLOA said.
Further, CMLOA appealed to all the citizens of Mon hq to extend cooperation during the peaceful protest rally.
