Winter Cricket underway in Wokha

Lancer CC registered a win in the first match against WDCA in the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge organised by Senior Noble Klan under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket in Association with Wokha Forest Division.


In a rather low-scoring match, WDCA won the toss and opted to bat first and set a target of 60 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 Overs with only one batsman reaching the double figure mark in the form of the opening batsman, Chuponthung with 13 runs.
While chasing the target, Lancer CC won the match by 9 wickets in 5.1 overs. The two opening batsmen, Hayithung Ngullie and Temjen Toshi scored 22 and 26 respectively. Thungchamo Jami was adjudged the man of the match for his economical bowling-1 wicket in 4 overs giving away just 7 runs.


In the second match, Phyolumo 11 who won the toss and opted to bat first, set a target of 176 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. The top contributors were Anil Sharma and Dipen Saharia with 46 and 47 respectively. Chasing the target, Kohima Hornbills failed to reach the target and lost the match by 60 runs in 18.3 Overs. Only 3 batsmen reached the double figure mark with Hikato 27, Anga 20 and Sede 12.
Dipen Saharia was adjudged the man of the match for his 47 runs knock and scalping 2 wickets.
