The 9th Unity Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima Town Youth Sports Ministry under the theme ‘Solidarity for Peace’ concluded at Chümoukedima Local Ground. The tournament was held from January 6 to 20 with 28 teams taking part.
A press release by Media cell of Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima, Jacob Sundas stated that Max Naga, founder of Common Public Platform graced the ceremony as special guest while pastor Samuel Chhetri, Nagamese Baptist Fellowship Chümoukedima village was the guest of honour in conjunction to the event.
Max Naga encouraged the Gorkhas of Chümoukedima Town to be the role model and backbone of the society. Guest of honour Samuel Chhetri Highlighted the importance of sports and also wished the organizers and players the very best in their future Endeavour.
During the tournament, which had match patrons from various fields, the youths were encouraged to have the spirit and passion of dignity of labour.
Convenor Suresh Bardewa of 9th Unity Cup encouraged the players to stand firm in their commitment until the next tournament in 2025. Man of the match in final match was Santosh of Supernova CC who made 40 runs and took 1 wicket to help Supernova CC beat Sky Warriors CC by 15 runs.
The winning team walked away with cash prize of Rs. 30,000 along with running trophy while the runner-up received Rs. 20,000. Among the individual awards, Subhas of Supernova CC was named the best bowler while Avinash of United Strikers CC was adjudged the best batsman. Ravi Thakur of Sky warriors CC was awarded player of the tournament while Avinash of United Strikers was awarded Emerging Player of the tournament.
