Advisor to chief minister, Abu Metha on Saturday inaugurated “Apni Pathshala”, a platform that offers online coaching books, and videos for various competitive exams, at Government High School, Sovima.
In his speech, Metha thanked Dr Aniruddha Malpani of Apni Pathshala for selecting schools in Nagaland to be among the 100 schools across the country.
GHS Sovima was among the four schools from Nagaland selected for the project. The other schools are- two in Longleng district (private and government) and one private school in Jalukie, Peren.
Under the project, Metha said 10 computer sets will be provided and awareness computer literacy to the students.
He spoke on the advancement of technology and how it has impacted human in every ways.
Underscoring the importance of technology, Metha said on the initiative taken by government and various organisations in introducing technology education, computer literacy amongst the children.
Emphasising that quality of education depends on good infrastructure, good facilities and quality of the teachers, Metha encouraged educational institutions, department of School Education and all stake holders to undertake steps, measures to empower, educate and skill the teachers on the advancement of technology.
With more than 1500 school across the state and more than two lakh students in government schools, Metha stressed on providing proper infrastructure to grassroots level, who faced challenges with limited resources and were dependent on the government schools.
He further said it was the responsibility of the government institution, departments and state government to continue to initiate steps to improve education system in the state.
Metha also encouraged the students that they should not use the word “impossible in their vocabulary” reminding them that parents don’t have to be rich for the student to succeed as some of the greatest achievers in the world came from poor background.
The only way to succeed was through work hard, discipline, commitment and the ambition to be successful, Metha said. Also speaking at the programme, deputy director, DoSE & OSD to Chief Minister, Nellayappan B emphasized that the project ‘Apni Pathshala’ was introduced by Dr. Aniruddha Malpani, a medical practitioner and an entrepreneur from Mumbai. He explained that under the project, Dr. Aniruddha will be sponsoring computer pot to 100 schools in India and whichever schools wants to set it up can approach him.
Dr Aniruddha said the main objective was to help the student community across India with his own resources to develop skills in computer education, so that the students can be empowered and motivated.
He also highlighted that the organization provides a set of 10 computers and technical ground support.
Delivering welcome address, asstt. headmistress, GHS, Sovima, Neilhousienuo, said that the school was in need of human resources office assistant, Computer and computer teacher.
She expressed the hope that the government will look into the requirements of the school.
Earlier, the program chaired by GT Anguno began with an invocation by associate pastor, CRC Sovima, Zhau Sanchu and vote of thanks was conveyed by Kazukala.
