Kohima was practically dry on fuel with almost all petrol pumps except two , remaining closed. This was reflected in the thin traffic seen on the roads.
People queued to buy rationed petrol at the only two petrol pumps which was opened for the public in the state capital.
Sekhose Petrol Pump located near High School junction and IOC Petrol Pump did brisk business while all other petrol pumps closed for the public after going dry since Thursday.
IOC and Sekhose petrol pump could sell after two trucks arrived Thursday night carrying petrol and diesel respectively.
Petrol was sold on ration basis of five liters only per vehicle through slips issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office Friday. However, diesel was sold on demand as there was sufficient stock.
A good number of motor vehicle owners had driven down to Dimapur to stock petrol, fearing scarcity in the state.
Sources had said the IOC depot at Signal Basti ,Dimapur, had enough stocks to last three months but there were no officers or workers to pump out the fuel.
