Kohima Municipal Council has notified all citizens within its jurisdiction that no person, organizations, institutions, departments would be permitted to erect, construct or demolish any building or any works specified in sub-clause (6) of clause (1) of section 340 of Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 without the permission of KMC.
Council has informed that permission for service connection such as electricity, water supply or sewer to the building would be given only after the authority inspected the building and approved as per laws laid down in the building by- laws (sec-14, Nagaland Building Bye-laws 2001).
The Council has requested public to obtain ‘construction permit’ before construction or under construction of any type of building within the jurisdiction of KMC.
According to an official report, on completion of the building or structure a ‘completion certificate’ from KMC would be made mandatory to obtain service connection such as electricity, water supply or sewer. Further, the bulletin stated that failing to comply with the order would compel the authority to take appropriate action as per the rule.
