The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has issued a public statement regarding an altercation involving a group of students in uniform that took place at Mokokchung Town Park on September 5, 2024.
Following the incident, the students involved were summoned to the AKM office, where disciplinary actions were taken after a thorough review of their conduct.
In a press note, AKM vice president Onenpong and general secretary Satemmongba said that the students were provided with counseling and signed a bond of good behavior, committing to maintain respectful conduct in the future.
AKM said it has resolved the matter and has instructed the respective village student unions of the involved parties not to pursue the issue further.
Further, AKM issued a stern warning to all students within Mokokchung district, stating that such behavior will not be tolerated and will lead to severe consequences.
Additionally, AKM addressed reports of ragging occurring in certain schools and hostels, reminding the public that ragging is a criminal offense and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Students found involved in ragging will face disciplinary action, both under customary law and through legal proceedings. The AKM emphasized that such behavior has no place in a civilized educational environment.
