Nagaland: 2nd phase of social audit hearing on MGNREGS held

District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Kohima, in collaboration with the Nagaland State Social Audit Agency (NSSAA), Social Audit Unit Nagaland conducted the 2nd phase FY 2024-25 Social Audit District Level Public Hearing under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for FY 2022-23 at the DPDB Conference Hall, Kohima on September 23.


According to DIPR report, a total of 26 villages were audited: 13 from the R.D. Blocks of Jakhama and Kohima in Kohima district, and another 13 from Tseminyu Block under Tseminyu district.


The hearing was chaired by project director of DRDA Kohima, Kevilhoubei-ü, who also delivered the welcome address. Imlirenla Sanglir, Assistant Director of NSSAA, Social Audit Unit Nagaland commended the progress made by the programme functionaries and implementing agencies in adhering to the guidelines during project execution.

She also highlighted the review made on the social audit findings and urged the programme functionaries and the implementing agency to take corrective measures based on the social audit findings.


EAC, Tseminyu, Ruokuosetuo Tetso represented district administration as an observer for the meeting. Representatives from Accountant General Office, Vizobeilie, assistant audit officer and Neikhol Sothu, sr. auditor attended the hearing as observers. BDOs and the staff, officials from the DRDA, MGNREGA beneficiaries, village functionaries, VLOs and media participated in the hearing meeting. The programme concluded with reading out village wise Gram Sabha resolution and vote of thanks by the chairperson.
