NEH Component of Onion & Garlic and Vegetable Crops, Nagaland University (NU) organised a Farmers-Scientist interaction program on September 30. The event was attended by local farmers of Medziphema village.

The interaction primarily aimed to raise awareness among tribal farmers about the importance of growing onion and garlic in kitchen gardens and encouraged them to adopt kitchen gardening and new technologies recommended by ICAR-DOGR, Pune, and NEH Component of Onion & Garlic, Nagaland Centre for uplifting their livelihoods.

The participants received Falcon Garden tool kits, which included a hand rake, hand cultivator, khurpi, and shovel, along with agricultural inputs such as Nalpak, Nisarga, Safe Root (Trichoderma harzianum), and rabi onion seeds.

The program was chaired by project incharge Dr. Moakala Changkiri, who encouraged farmers to adopt onion and garlic cultivation for self-sustenance and economic development.
