Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) Wokha has emphasized the importance of proper usage, identification, and understanding of traditional outfits and ornaments, highlighting their significance as reflections of the community’s deep-rooted connection to culture and tradition.
To raise awareness, LEH organized a coordination meeting at Lotha Hoho Ki in Dimapur on Monday. The meeting aimed to educate participants about the proper identification and usage of traditional garments and accessories.
In her opening remarks, LEH chairman Thungbeni Ngullie stressed the importance of recognizing cultural richness and unique talents within the community. She highlighted the necessity for the youth to appreciate and understand the significance of these traditional items.
The cultural committee in-charge, Mhalo TM Lotha, displayed various traditional outfits and ornaments, explaining their significance and encouraging attendees to identify and use them correctly. She noted that these items serve as a vital link between the past and present, reflecting Lotha tribe’s cultural heritage and their commitment to preserving it for future generations. She further emphasized the need to accurately identify and name traditional attire for both men and women, underscoring distinctiveness of Lotha community garments.
The event was chaired by Dimapur Lotha Eloe Hoho president Mhabeni K Humtsoe, invocation by Kohima Lotha Eloe Ekhung president Renboni Ezung. Vote of thanks was delivered by Chümoukedima Lotha Eloe Ekhung president Loboni Ngullie, and benediction by DLEE cultural secretary Abeni Odyuo.
