Several organisations have condemned the alleged murder of a Bachelor of Theology final year student identified as Noghuvi Sumi, whose body was found in Walford area, Dimapur on November 3 morning.
DSC: Dimapur Sümi Council (DSC) has expressed deep grief and outrage over what it described as “senseless murder” of a young theological student Noghuvi Sumi, whose life was tragically cut short.
DSC through its president Shikuto Yeptho and press secretary D Jonah Achumi stated that murder is a repressible crime that violated the fundamental right to life. “It causes irreparable harm not only to the family and communities of the victim but the society as a whole,” DSC stated.
Strongly condemning the “heinous act”, the council urged the responsible authorities to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
Meanwhile, DSC conveyed its thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family.
SKK: All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) expressed shock, grief and outrage over the “gruesome murder” of Noghuvi K Sumi.
In a statement, SKK president Gihuka K Zhimo and general secretary Toshika K Kiba said that the discovery of his lifeless body, callously discarded on the roadside in Northern Angami Colony, has sent shockwaves throughout the student community.
SKK stated that the heinous crime was a stark reminder of the alarming rise in violence and lawlessness in the society, adding that “we cannot remain silent.”
Condemning “this senseless act” in the strongest possible terms, the union said that the “brutal murder of an innocent student” was a chilling reminder of the dangers that the youth faced daily.
SKK demanded immediate action from the law enforcement agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice for the bereaved family. “A thorough and impartial investigation must be conducted, utilizing all resources to identify and bring the culprits to book,” SKK demanded.
Further, SKK urged the authorities to take concrete measures to ensure the safety and security of students in Dimapur. The union also extended condolences to the bereaved family. “We stand in solidarity with the family and friends of the deceased and assure them of our unwavering support,” SKK asserted.
DNSU: Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) through its president Hinoto P Aomi and general secretary Michael Kath also expressed shock and deep grief over the “gruesome murder” of Noghuvi K. Sumi.
DNSU asserted that “this heinous act” reflected a disturbing disregard for human life. The union also said that the “brutal killing of an innocent youth” has sent shockwaves across the community.
Demanding a thorough and swift investigation into the incident, DNSU urged the responsible authorities to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
It also urged the authorities to leave no stone unturned in unravelling the truth behind Noghuvi’s tragic demise.
DNSU has appealed to the public to cooperate with the investigating authorities and share any information that could assist in the investigation. DNSU said it stood in solidarity with the bereaved family and friends, and demanded accountability for this heinous crime.
STA: Expressing shock over the death of Noghuvi K Sumi, the Sümi Theological Association (STA) said that “this senseless act of violence” has shaken the community, saying it has left deep and irreparable scar on the lives of the victim’s family, friends and his loved ones.
Denouncing “this brutal act” committed upon its member, the association through its president Vihokhu Zhimo and general secretary Lujeka Assumi said that “this heinous act is a flagrant violation of human rights and fundamental dignity.”
STA said that taking of an innocent life without fear in a Christian society was a repressible crime that cannot be justified under any circumstances, adding that such evil act had no place in Christian state.
The associations urged the state law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the crime and bring those perpetrators to justice. It also urged the authorities to ensure that the “culprits” faced the full weight of the law.
Meanwhile, STA has called upon all the churches and church organisations in Nagaland to condemn such unacceptable evil act in the society. It also called upon the people of the state to collectively work in creating a peace-loving society.
NACC: Northern Angami Colony Council (NACC), Walford Dimapur has expressed deep pain and condemned the “brutal murder” of Noghuvi Sumi.
Condemning the heinous crime, the council further demanded swift action from the law enforcements to arrest the perpetrators at the earliest and bring justice to the family. NACC also extended condolences and prayers to the bereaved family at this time of sorrow and grief.
