Expressing grave concern over the “enormous plight” of public due to the closure of Road Over Bridge (ROB) between Golaghat road junction and Burma Camp, the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has appealed to the responsible authority and the contractor to expedite the work.

NCD president Holuto Aye and general secretary LK Peter Anal appreciated the state government’s decision to dismantle the “precarious and aged bridge” and construct the new bridge.

NCD, however, expressed concern over “slow progress” of construction work while the public was craving for its earliest completion. “The public has also given a negative remark that the number of workers are just a handful for the completion of urgent work,” NCD stated.

Therefore, NCD has appealed to the contractor to employ more workers and labourers to expedite the construction. As the festive season was nearing and Dimapur being only the commercial hub of the state, NCD said many people from the hill districts would arrive Dimapur for Christmas and New Year marketing.

It said that if the bridge remained unfinished, people would certainly face hardship. NCD said foreign and domestic visitors to Hornbill Festival would also face the problem. NCD, therefore, appealed for expediting the work and complete the construction as early as possible.
