College of Veterinary Science and AH (CoVS&AH), Jalukie observed Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas, from November 15 to 26, with an aim of creating awareness on low cost livestock farming and management under the guidance of the Dean, Dr. I. Shakuntala.
Under the campaign three awareness-cum-training programmes were conducted in the college campus, funded by ICAR-CARI, Jalukie B, NABARD, New Peren Village and ICAR-NBAGR, to educate more than 100 vulnerable tribal farmers for low cost livestock management to help in their socio-economic upliftment.
Sub-nodal officer of this programme, Dr. Shyamanada Mukherjee, professor, along with the other team members Dr. Imtiwati, Assistant Professor (LPM); Gyaneshori Devi, Assistant Professor (LPM) and Dr. Ksh. Mahesh Singh, Assistant Professor (AGB) conducted the programmes.
Members spoke about benefits of backyard and low cost livestock farming in the regions. Additionally, members Dr. Bhabesh Mili, Assistant Professor (VPB); Dr. Keneisezo Kuotsu, Assistant Professor (VMC); Dr. Kh. Ratika, Assistant Professor (ANN) and Dr. K. Merina Devi, Assistant Professor (LFC) also talked on various other aspects, including use of locally available feeds, fodder and other resources.
