The 17th edition of Hornbill International Naga Wrestling Championship 2024 is scheduled to be held on December 6 at Chiechama.
This year’s edition of Hornbill Wrestling will comprise of the following categories – 75kg & below, 90kg & below, Hornbill Championship for Men and Women exhibition match.
The championship will have participation from eight Naga tribes – Angami, Chakhesang, Zeliang, Lotha, Sumi, Pochury, Rengma and Ao. Altogether, 45 men and 14 women wrestlers from the eight Naga tribes are expected to take part in the championship. Wild Card Entry is also awarded to the champion of the 1st ANCSU wrestling meet 2024.
All the wrestlers, referees and match officials have been asked to report at IG Stadium on December 5, 10 am for the official briefing, weight measurement and draw of fixture. Any interested persons (both local and tourist) who wishes to participate in the Hornbill Wrestling Championship, apart from the eight participating Naga tribes may contact at 8787538827 or 7005104434 and submit their names on or before December 4.
Reigning Nagaland Wrestling Champion Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü and former Nagaland Wrestling Champion Venuzo Dawhuo will take part in this edition and compete for the coveted 17th Hornbill International Naga Wrestling Championship 2024 along with other prominent and upcoming Naga Wrestlers.
