Transparency in recruitment: Police

Nagaland Police has assured full transparency in the recruitment process to the newly raised 14 IRBn, scheduled to be conducted simultaneously on October 23 at Nagaland Armed Police Training Center (NAPTC), Chumukedima, and other districts.
Briefing mediapersons, SP Dimapur Liremo Lotha Thursday said the recruitment process to 14th IRBn would be “a very fair and transparent process.”
The SP said the Police Headquarter (PHQ), Kohima had constituted one committee headed by a senior IGP to monitor and assess the entire recruitment process.
For Dimapur, board members comprising of one each from district administration, central police force and IRBn would be monitoring the recruitment.
Besides the board members, the authority would be inviting prominent NGOs as observers to ensure transparency, Lotha said.
He also said each candidate would be issued ID card to avoid impersonation during the recruitment.
Lotha said the recruitment process would consist of various fitness tests including 3 Km run, long jump, pull up, balancing act, medical test and finally a written test on October 26.
On reports of involvement of middlemen who on previous occasions promised to help candidates get selected in return for some payment, the SP said candidates should be wary of such people and to report to the authority any instance of middleman trying to meddle in the recruitment process.
“They (candidates) should be convinced that recruitment process is going to be very free and fair,” he added.
Lotha further assured the board members would not succumb to any form of pressure but purely decide on merit basis, and that no deserving candidate would be denied the opportunity in the selection process.
Meanwhile, the SP disclosed that 630 candidates have applied for 56 posts of General Duty (constables) allotted to Dimapur district in the newly raised 14th IRBn.
