Secretary, Central Executive Board (CEB) NDPP, Nagaland, Neingutuo Rio graced the 1st Winter Open Amateur Badminton Tournament on February 3 at the Indoor Stadium, Medziphema Town with an enthusiastic gathering of players and sports enthusiasts.
Addressing the gathering as the special guest, Neingutuo Rio, lauded the efforts of women in organizing such a sporting event. He emphasized the vital role women play in shaping society and acknowledged their initiative in fostering an active and healthy community through sports.
Highlighting the benefits of sports, he referenced the World Health Organization (WHO), which advocates for physical activity as a means to improve health, develop life skills, enhance mood, and reduce stress. He encouraged individuals to participate in at least one sport to maintain both physical and mental well-being.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Kerinjungla, with a dedicatory prayer offered by Women Pastor of Ao Baptist Church, Medziphema Town, Ajungla T. Aier. A special musical performance by Katoshe added to the occasion’s spirit.
The tournament, organized by the Women Shuttle Stars Club, Medziphema Town, aims to promote sportsmanship and community engagement.
