Naga students excel in science prog

Motivational programme for talented school students of the North Eastern Region organized by the North-east Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, Assam catalyzed and supported by RVPSP, DST, GOI, New Delhi was held from October 14-19 at the regional research laboratory, Jorhat.
Nagaland state was represented was four students of class 9 and science teacher Veronica of Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.
The programmed was also attended by other schools of the northeastern states. During the six day programme, the students visited the laboratory, interacted with more than 30 scientists, assigned project works on different fields like tissue culture, paper and fiber making, iodine content in salts, medicinal and economic plans etc, demonstrations and science awareness programme.
In the science elocution competition, Imlisenla L Pongen and Jongpongyangla N Imti presented the topic ‘Cloning’ and bagged the second prize while Honli Yanlemth and Akumtoshi Aier presented the topic ‘Electricity’ and bagged the fourth prize.
