Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren organized a two-day training and demonstration program on ginger and turmeric cultivation practices for FPOs from Jalukie and Peren blocks on February 14 and 15, 2025 at the KVK farm and office.
On the first day, farmers visited the KVK Peren farm, where Dr. Prashant Kalal, SMS Fruit Science, demonstrated modern techniques to boost productivity of high demand crops in the region and encouraged. He also discussed the potential of these spices in the region and encouraged farmers to engage actively in their cultivation.
On the second day, the training addressed issues in ginger and turmeric cultivation and ways to resolve them. Dr. L. Babita Devi, CTO (Animal Science) and Nodal Officer FPO, spoke on diversifying resources into marketable products, aiming to boost farmers’ income and the overall development of the block.
Inputs like Ginger rhizome 500kg, Turmeric rhizome 500kg and packaging pouch and bottles were also distributed. Altogether, 30 farmers from Poilwa, Ndunglwa, Mpai, Lebemphai, Nkio B, Jalukie town and Samzuiram village of Peren district attended the programme.
