SJSKT holds annual sports and games

The annual sports and games of St. John School Kiusam Town (SJSKT) was inaugurated on April 4, by Kiusam Town EAC, Wetso Lasushe.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering of DBs, GBs, pastors, public leaders, and parents, marking the beginning of a vibrant two-day sports extravaganza at the school.


Addressing the gathering, Wetso Lasushe encouraged the students to give their best in all their performances, highlighting the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and fair play.

He emphasized that the spirit of sports is not solely about winning or losing, but about the joy of playing, learning, and growing together.

Wetso further stated that the participation in sports should promote values such as friendship, discipline, and the sharing of experiences. He called on the students to maintain a competitive spirit while keeping in mind the larger lessons sports impart.

Wetso further expressed his gratitude to the school staff, parents, and public leaders for their continuous support in the education of children, who are the future builders of society.


The event was filled with excitement and energy as the students and attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including the unfurling of the school flag, a march past, lighting of the sports torch, drill display, speeches, and special performances from the tiny tots.

The cultural performances, remix dance, and oath-taking ceremony added to the festive atmosphere. The sports event began with an exhibition match between the special invitees and the school staff, kicking off the much-anticipated sports activities for the day.


Earlier, the invocation was pronounced by Kiusam village pastor, Taichang followed by principal Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu welcome the august gathering. The vote of thanks was deliovered by head teacher, David.
