NMA’s joint action committee on women reservation (JACWR) has reportedly filed a writ petition at the Kohima bench of the Gauhati High Court “seeking implementation of women reservation in towns and municipalities and holding of these elections.” The writ petition was filed by two NMA members on the failure of the state government to hold Towns and Municipal elections and implement women reservation as per the Nagaland Municipal (First Amendment) Act 2006, said JACWR member Rosemary Dzuvichu, in a press release. The writ petition would be admitted June 24.
