In a vibrant celebration of culture, creativity, and community spirit, Japfu Christian College (JCC) successfully hosted its first-ever Matsuri festival from April 15 to 16, with Project Director of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TAFMA), Dr. Hovithal Sothu, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
The two-day event brought together students, artists, and institutions from across Nagaland, embracing the theme of pursuing dreams with passion.
Addressing the students, Dr. Sothu highlighted the importance of embracing both success and failure in the journey of life. “In today’s competitive world, only those who strive to be the best can move forward,” he remarked, urging students to reflect on their goals and focus on their strengths.
He emphasized the vast opportunities within the music, arts, and entertainment industry, encouraging young talents to explore their potential.
Principal of JCC, Professor Visakhonu Hibo in her inaugural address, shared the vision behind Matsuri, describing it as an initiative designed to instill values, encourage self-expression, and equip students with skills and knowledge through meaningful exposure. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to all supporters and contributors who made the event possible.
Matsuri saw enthusiastic participation from several colleges across Kohima and Dimapur, with over 100 individual contestants competing in a wide range of activities such as music, dance, cosplay, karaoke, e-sports, photography, and reel-making.
The festival was further energized by performances from well-known artists including Brooke, DJ Rhon, The Cosplay Monster, Trance Effect, and TAFMA-affiliated performers.
With a blend of talent, creativity, and electric performances, the inaugural Matsuri festival left a lasting impression on attendees, setting the stage for future editions that promise to be even bigger and more inspiring.
