Fighters from The Combat Academy (TCA), under the guidance of head coach Khriemelie Metha, delivered outstanding performances at Aturto 3.0, one of India’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) events, held on April 26 in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh.
In the professional featherweight division, Kekhrieneitso Angami secured a dominant victory over Mumbai’s Nishant Karkera, winning by unanimous decision after three commanding rounds.
A former Kumite Warrior’s Hunt Fight League Champion, Angami’s victory has earned him a place in the semi-finals of the Aturto 8-Man Featherweight Grand Prix. He will face New Delhi’s Nilesh Chaudhary in August, with the Grand Prix final scheduled for December, where the first-ever Aturto Featherweight Championship Belt will be awarded.
In the semi-professional bantamweight category, Goodwin Ningshen showcased impressive ground control and effective takedowns.
Despite his strong performance, Ningshen was edged out by Assam’s Pankaj Das from Dojang mixed martial arts via a contentious split decision.
Speaking after the event, Coach Khriemelie Metha praised the efforts of his athletes, stating, “Both athletes performed to their potential and continue to uphold The Combat Academy’s standards of discipline, technical excellence, and perseverance.”
