Consultation meeting in Kohima for Dr. T. Ao football trophy

A consultative meeting to coordinate preparations for the upcoming Dr. T. Ao Inter-District Football Tournament was held at the DPDB Hall, Kohima, on May 8. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place in Kohima from August 1 to 15, 2025.


According to a DIPR reort, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, N chaired the meeting, which saw participation from several key officials, including general secretary of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and Benei M. Lamthiu, MLA and NFA president K. Neibou Sekhose.


MLA Lamthiu commended the tremendous improvement in football tournaments across the state and emphasized the importance of serious and dedicated organization. He noted that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) recognizes Nagaland’s contribution to football development in the North East and across India. Encouraging proactive engagement, he assured that the NFA would provide technical support to ensure the success of the tournament, which he described as a crucial platform for young footballers.


DC Buchem acknowledged the high standards set by Tuensang District, which hosted the previous edition of the tournament, and urged Kohima officials to strive to surpass those benchmarks in the upcoming event.


NFA president Sekhose shared insights into the history and significance of the tournament, noting its official recognition by the AIFF. He emphasized that all players and officials involved would be officially registered in the AIFF portal.


The meeting concluded with a detailed discussion among Kohima district officers regarding the formation of various committees and a roadmap for the successful organization of the tournament.
