Deputy Commissioner Peren district, N. Mesen undertook exploratory expedition to some villages under Peren to take stock on implementation of various schemes and funds provided by the government for development of area. During the tour, deputy commissioner also met the heads of different departments. He was accompanied by Nyangpong SDO (C), Tening, S. Chuba Longkumer BDO, Tening, Apeuna Iheilung, DIS Peren, Dr L. Kuotsu, CMO Peren and other officers.
While speaking at a function at Tening village during the tour, DC opined that as people honour and follow customary laws firmly in Naga society, village administration in Nagaland had emerged as strongest management to settle any dispute. He also said that as far as development was concerned, grassroots level had been given the sole responsibility. While alluding to Naga society as an egalitarian society which was not found in other states, Mesen urged them to take advantage of the same spirit by cooperating with government and departments in order to obtain all-round development.
Peren CMO, Dr L. Kuotsu, who also spoke at the function said communitization was the best policy for all round development. He said “communitization brings unity, sense of common property, common responsibility and for working together for the general public unitedly.” CMO further said that since he worked for department of life saving service, he and his staff were sincerely working even in the remotest places. While referring to National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), he stressed that all the doctors and nurses were working vigilantly for any consequences. In this regard, Dr Kuotsu urged all public to cooperate with them and also advised the leaders in the villages to respond promptly to their urgent matters when called for.
Others who spoke at the function included Nyangpong SDO (C), Tening, Mrs Apeuna Iheilung DIS Peren and S. Chuba Longkumer, BDO Tening.
