St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama observes college week

College Week 2009 celebrations at St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama were held from September 21 to 25. Every year a week is set apart for competitions in sports and games and various cultural events including the competition for the coveted title of Mr. & Ms. Josephite, to make the education that the College imparts balanced and wholesome.
The College Week was inaugurated on September 20 by Col K.B. Jairaj, Commanding Officer, 164, Naga Regiment, Zakhama. The Principal Fr. Dr. Isaac Padinjarekuttu challenged the students to give their best and make best use of the opportunities offered to them during the College Week.
The first event of the College Week celebrations was the Naga Wrestling competition which was won by Swuyesa of Calss XII. Competitions were held in Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis and various Athletic Events including the Marathon, Chess, Solo, Folk Song, Group Song, Extempore Speech, Declamation, Fancy dress and for the title of Mr. and Ms. Josephite which were won by Kevisalie Iralu of III B.A. and Imlienla Longkumer of I B.A.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony on September 25 was graced by Mhabemo Yanthan, Deputy Secretary, Youth Resources and Sports, who gave away the prizes to the winners.
Metenole of Class XI was the individual girl champion and Neizosie-o Rhutsu of II B.A. the individual boy champion. The Barcelona Team with their dynamic and enthusiastic captains Zubemo Lotha and. Imtisangla Jamir of III B.A. was adjudged the overall champions. In spite of the inclement weather at times, the College Week once again proved to be the enjoyable and learning experience it always was for the.
